Craving carbs?  Here’s a great way to indulge into something that tastes like a “bad for you food” – in reality it is very healthy, delicious and as flavorful as you want to make it.  This is one dish you have a lot of control over.  Pesto is very simple sauce, with tons of different flavors melting in your mouth as you eat.  Have fun playing with all the different pesto sauces in the stores.  I prefer the flavor of Classico, but there are so many options.  Find the ones you enjoy, and make those your staple choices :O)


COST:

Turkey Sausage – $3.29 – we used half = $1.65
Whole Wheat Pasta – $0.99
Frozen Broccolli – $0.97 – we used half = $0.49
Classico Pesto Sauce – $2.99

TOTAL:  $6.12 – 6 servings = $1.02

RECIPE:

1/2 package Turkey Sausage
1 Box of Whole Wheat Pasta
1/2 package frozen broccoli
1 jar Pesto Sauce
Sprinkle Parmesan Cheese (optional)

1.  Cook sausage thoroughly; and pasta according to directions.
2.  Place frozen broccoli in bowl.  Drain your pasta and immediately pour over broccoli and mix together.
3.  Cut sausage into bite sized pieces, and stir into broccoli and pasta.
4.  Coat entire dish with pesto – sprinkle top with Parmesan cheese.
