Want a purely nutritional treat that will also help alleviate that “chunky” feeling that follows an evening of indulgence in PIZZA … try oatmeal with flavored almonds, and some cranberries.  It’s true deliciousness for your tongue.


Free this time around because I used all my leftovers.  To buy from scratch:

Oatmeal – $2.00
Craisins – $1.69
Chocolate Covered Almonds – $2.50
Cinnamon Covered Almonds – $2.50

Total: $8.69 for 10 servings (sometimes more depending on the number of packets in your oatmeal)


1 packet instant oatmeal (or 1 serving freshly prepared Steel Cut Oatmeal)
1/4 C dried cranberries
1/8 C Cinnamon covered almonds
1/8 C  Dark Chocolate covered almonds

1.  Prepare oatmeal as described on the box.  Typically, you boil up to 1/4 C water and add it to the oatmeal.
2.  Mix in almonds and cranberries.  Because of the flavor on the almonds, and the sweetness in the cranberries you do not need any additional sugar or spices.
3.  Enjoy!!

Calories: 300 to 375 calories with 12 g protein – an excellent breakfast choice :O)

    i'm a huge oatmeal fan during the winter, but can't eat it in the spring/summer months. i know that sounds wacky, but don't hold it against me.

    and thanks for answering my question about the dark chocolate almonds…before i had a chance to ask. 🙂
