It takes 5 minutes to prepare this delicious hummus at home.   The video below is a demonstration on how to create this easy, good for you snack:

As you can see in the video, I don’t use paprika or parsley on my hummus.  It looks amazing if you are preparing this to serve at a party or for dinner guests.  Also, for convenience I always put my olive oil into the mixture when blending.

CORRECTION:  I said this serves 4 people, it actually serves 8.

Cost of Ingredients:

       Organic Garbanzo Beans – $0.84
       Olive Oil infused with Red, Yellow and Orange Peppers- already had in the pantry
       Garlic Clove – $0.23
       Tahini – $3.69 (can be used to prepare 10 or more hummus recipes)
       Lemon Juice – $1 for bottle with coupon

Total Cost:  $4.76 – Servings 8 per can of garbanzo beans.  Store bought hummus typically costs between $2.50 to $4.50 a container, and serves 4.

RECIPE:

     2 cans garbanzo beans, drained
     1/3 cup Tahini
     1/4 cup lemon juice

     3-4 cloves garlic, minced
     1 tablespoon olive oil
     1 pinch paprika and/or 1 teaspoon minced fresh parsley (optional) 

Place all ingredients into a bullet, blender or food processor.  Blend until smooth.  When serving to guests sprinkle with paprika and parsley.

Calories per serving: 77

    i googled chick peas not long ago as i was looking for high protein foods for my mom. she has a surgery wound that's healing and her doctor told her to get more protein daily.

    They're delicious, and you can add whatever spices you want to it. Chick peas actually are very much like tofu: whatever flavor you add to it is the flavor you will taste.
